MiiPlaza.net is always being updated — get your digs here.

April 11, 2008: An important update for everyone, the domain names this site has been operating under are going to no longer be in our possession soon, there is nothing we can do about it. We need to select a new URL, we need to select it fast, and we will update you when we know it. You'll have to redirect your browsers to a new URL in the coming months, specifically one that does not contain "Wii" or "Mii" in the title, and we will let everyone know exactly what URL that is as soon as we've chosen one. Suggestions are welcome, please post away!!

Please note that this is non-negotiable, and we are doing our best to make the change a positive one!

Whoa, seriously? Bummer, lots of other sites will have to change names too. How about meplaza or weplaza, technically, its not the same name, so u can use it! =P Posted by MarioRulz

Well that sucks. I'll miss the good ol' MiiPlaza.

The Plaza.
NintenDo'ers.
Big N's.
Miintendo.
The N Plaza.

:/ I don't have anymore ideas. I'm sure you'll come up with something good, but idk. I would love to see it still include 'Plaza' though, cuz I will always be a 'Plazian' at heart.

I think "The Plaza" is too non-descriptive.

I like miigallery. And no matter what nintendo says, it's OK to use "mii" in the site name because this is a site for posting pics of miis. You can't identify the site without using the word "mii" and that makes it fair use. "Miiplaza" is probably more than is necessary to identify the purpose of the site, so it looks like there will have to be some name change. Miigallery is available! Posted by rababob

@ Chrisbjwii: I know Jose said to suggest names without Mii or Wii in them. What I'm saying is that Nintendo doesn't dictate the law. Look up nominative use on wikipedia. If the word mii is necessary to describe the product or service, as it is on a site dedicated to miis, then it isn't infringement. The font will have to be different, and other images from the mii channel decorating the site will have to be removed, but we can keep the word mii in our site name. Posted by rababob

'MiPlaza.net'

As in: 'mi plaza es su plaza'

It's pronounced the same, mi and plaza are Spanish, so it sounds nice, and Nintendo can't take ownership of a very common word. Mi means 'my', so that works, too. Posted by Toon&Anime (David)

Oh about M.I.I. plaza. Massively impressive internet plaza. Because you use the letters as initials, you cannot therefore be held liable for any coincidencial soundalike traits that the name has, as long as you have words to back up the initials. :) Posted by Travis Touchdown

As I said in the forum thread, I think you should fight to keep miiplaza. I think it's fair use of the word, you're not competing with any of Nintendo's services, and forgoing a site name with "mii" in it will hamstring your ability to draw visitors based on what this site offers. Although the word Artisan is not directly associated to Miis, those who are familiar with Nintendo and the CMO will immediately associate it.

just run names by nintendo have them pick from like a top ten choice of all of ours and then see what they say because that way the more you associate with nintendo the more tehy will side with our site on later issues because there will be more later on down the road...

Don't do anything like Miplaza, Myplaza, or Meplaza or anything like that because it doesn't tell that it has Miis in it. And it's just a pun. How about The GamerPlaza, The Plaza, or something along the lines of that. I also might want to keep 'Plaza' in it because it makes the site unique. Or like ArtisanPlaza or ArtisanCreations cause thats what users are called on Check Mii Out/Mii Contest Channel. I also think that we should keep the word Mii in it because that's the basis of the whole site!

I agree with previous comments stating that you should try to keep the name as it is.  If "push comes to shove" I do like the suggestion of ArtiisanPlaza.net.  Artisan is word found on the dictionary so I don't see Nintendo having any rights to limit its use in anyway. 


cmoplaza.net or cmo.netmay be pushing it, but it is an acronym and could mean anything different than "check mii out"...For example PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) vs. PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals). ; )  Or CMO = Corporate Mortage Corp., Chief Marketing Officer... there is even a vvww.cmo.com website, in which case CMO=Christian Music Online...


Anyone have a good suggestion for a new CMO definition that could be appropriately related to the content of miiplaza?

I liked MarioRulz's and Bananaman's concept of WePlaza. I think the We gives the site a feeling of community, rather than just being about one person with MiiPlaza or MePlaza. Also, if it isn't Miiplaza, people may think of the site as more than just about Miis (blastworks, anyone?).
