Oh, it was poorly compared, that's how.
This game kept a friend busy for hours, and could presumably help little children with their wee little motor skills and hand-eye coordination... other than that, this is no sleeper hit! It's just a sleeper.
The gameplay has you zapping everything trying to find little alien guys who just kind of run out and sit there. You're basically just pointing and clicking for a few hours. Might as well just look through Miis on MiiPlaza.net. ;)
So please, stop comparing this game to Katamari Damacy.
But there are some things that was included, such as elements in nature. I mean, I slammed a gas tank to the ground. I expect to see some explosion. Everything is a block within the land, as some of the blocks do have purposes, usually with a puzzle behind them.
But the editor was one of my highlights. Something about editing within games gets me all happy inside.
Elebits is, to the point, a hide-and-seek themed game. That probably sounded really lame, but I can correct that. The concept is actually pretty bizzare: You tear apart your parent's house looking for tiny, alien-like creatures called "Elebits". Elebits are the reason electrisity works, and without them, your stuck as a board little kid.
I'm not going to discuss the story and characters because they are lame. The voice-overing in the cut scenes is hilariously awful...
This game is addicting. For a while anyways. Then it sloooowwwllyyy gets boaring, BUT WAIT! ANOTHER DISTRACTION!!! We also have a level editor included! You can edit the furnature placement and amount in preset rooms (too bad you can't render your own).
in tired of typing. Live with this half finished review. Good night.
OH! And just one more thing: If you are into editing maps, trade wii numbers with me and we can swap maps!
By moving stuff around in the envirronement you will find Elebits to fill your electricity meter that will give you the opportunity to turn on stuff and interact with the envirronement even more. You will also build up your electric gravity gun and one day be able to lift entire buildings!!
A nice addition is also the ability to take screenshots and make custom levels and being able to share them with your friends.
Elebits is truly a game designed and thought for the Wii and that\'s where it shines. A simple but clever concept that is deeper than it seems will give you fun for hours. This game is at the very freaking least \"an excellent rent\".
Passionate of videogames or people more looking for new stuff and originality shouldn\'t even hesitate and buy it right there.
Something new, innovative, and weird. But it didn't capture my attention....
Its weird. I normally love these weird/creative games. I fell in love with Katamari Damacy for the PS2 with its wacky gameplay and style. I was kind of hoping the same spark would happen with Elebits, but it never did.
Its a simple enough game. You go through different rooms and whatnot looking for these tiny creatures that emitt electricity, and by doing so, you collect their energy that will eventually build up enough to lift/turn on higher powered items. It plays like a shooter, but there's nothing shooting back at you....so you feel like you are just clicking aimlessly at the TV.
Sadly, I didn't get to play this game a whole heck of a lot.....to be honest, I only played this game for maybe (MAYBE) 2 hours tops. I really don't know why I bought this game. I think I was just sold on the reviews from others sites (IGN.com), and based on that I thought the game would just win me over, which it never did.
I ended up trading the game in towards WarioWare, which was a slight upgrade (as WarioWare is wearing off on me).
Elebits is a definate "rent" in my opinion. People rave how its an amazing game with great controls, which it does, but I never "got it" with this game.
3/5.
But trashing everything is still pretty fun.
Multiplayer allows only one player at a time to control the camera view and movement of the player on screen. Both players get to interact with the environment, opening, turning, twisting, shaking items, and grabbing elebits. This may seem annoying, but actually makes the game easier as you are looking at a full-sized screen, and not trying to figure out who you are and where you are. The one person controlling the view actually adds more of a challenge. It also makes for lots of laughs as they always move just when you think you're about to score big-time. This game is designed more for fun than for outright competition. If you are just downright competitive, look elsewhere. If you just want to laugh and have a blast ... this may be for you.
