I think xbox avatars have more customization than miis. C'mon Nintendo, you have to trade miis to a friend and then trade them back just to get blue jeans? Thats terrible. I don't have any Wii Friends.
I think those of us with Xbox 360s should give them a good look when they go live, and if there are creative avenues to be exploring, then absolutely we should add a place for them. There is no more natural direction in which for MiiPlaza to expand.
I was just reading that at TGS Microsoft said that EVERY Xbox 360 owner will Have to create an Avatar on November 19th. I bet core users will be dissappointed. Of course that also means you can create one and never use it again if you don't want. They also said only one Avatar per profile or Gamertag so you can't make 100 like on Wii.
After putting in all that work to get this site running I think you'd be crazy not to do something similar for Xbox avatars Jose. At least give it a go, despite the considerable risk of it proving to be an unpopular innovation with the majority of Xbox users.
But, in your position, I think I'd be tempted to re-use the template from this site to make an entirely new and separate one for XBox. Obviously this would negate some of the commercial advantages from having a large pre-installed user base, but you would also minimise the chances of falling prey to some of the pitfalls that a combined site might suffer from. Such as the constant bickering between fanboys of rival systems.
I know that I won't want to come here any more if the miis we create start to get abuse from a group of members who don't share the same interest in Nintendo or the hobby of mii-making that we pursue. If you do decide to combine the sites, and the comments, voting, forums and chat start to become a constant battleground, I think you'd need to adopt stricter procedures to deal with the trouble-causers rather than the currently prevalent laissez-faire attitude. If you're prepared to put more effort into moderating and think you can strike an even balance between two competing factions then, by all means, bring the Xbox avatars here.
What is the idea of this whole fanboy thing? And what in the world is the purpose of these so-called "console wars"? For gosh's sake, just buy the console that fits you best, and if you are dissatisfied with it, then sell the damn thing! Who cares whether Microsoft makes a better gaming console than Nintendo? And... why?
Quote Anthony Morado: one Avatar per profile or Gamertag so you can't make 100 like on Wii
Yeah, this has been my main outlook with the whole Xbox avatars. With the Miis, you are pretty much encourage to make who ever you want, as with these avatars, its not so much as an creative outlet, but a way the player wants to be looked like. But I could be wrong, the 360 community could constantly remake themselves, but in the end, you can't keep hold of past creations. You just can't 'trade' them like Miis.
Everyone remember when the Wii was first released, and you could easily find lists of "must have Miis on your console." I just don't see that happening with these avatars... I'm not saying I don't care for these Avatars, I'm just thinking that it will be not as popular to make characters. But I would like to be proven wrong...

If you really can only make one avatar per profile, that pretty much eliminates any potential Avatars would have for creativity, and therefore would render pointless the notion of expanding the site to include them. If it's true, that is.
After viewing the whole thing in motion, there are a lot of options out there, and I bet there will always be more to get, but no option to grow/shrink/reposition really limits creativity.
Yeah there are a lot of more options than Nintendo's Miis but your right without getting full control of where you want to put features is more limiting than Nintendo's offer. Still looks neat though.
At first I was a bit weary about this, but I'm coming around to it more every time I watch a video on it. My only problem with it is, now guys will know that I'm a girl when playing over live. I could do a male avatar but that is just plain wrong, lol. I've found out that it's sometimes best to stay quiet on game matches over live. Somehow being a girl on live attracts a lot of attention from the male species, lol :D
Its an improvement on the Miis and may even open up a new audience to the Xbox 360. So it's not a bad thing at all.
From what I've read, it's much harder to make a celebrity/cartoon character etc. as an avatar than it is with Miis. In short it doesn't sound like there's going to be the same amount of creative freedom which sounds a bit odd considering the technology behind it should be better.
From what I've seen it looks as if there are loads more pre-defined options but no ability to tweak them-rotate them, move them apart, re-size parts and so on.

With Xbox Avatars coming, the potential to add more like-minded artists and video gamers to our community looms, or is it all just a flash in the pan?

Who would vote "Nintendo or bust"? That sounds pretty narrow-minded.
