A bit of DSi info that's sure to come as no major surprise. The DSi will be region locked. This means that DSiWare, and game cards specifically made for the DSi will only play on systems from the same region. Nintendo's reasons for making the DSi region locked come down to net services specifically tailored for each region within both the system and software, as well as parental control functionality which is also going to be included in the system. Regular DS games do not shouldn't fall under the region lock, so I guess my copy of Itadaki Street DS is safe. If all else fails, chalk it up as another reason to hold onto your DS' when getting a DSi.
True, but each system is going to have different games, seeing a DSi game on your Wii may be confusing and vise-versa, well it feels very unlikely despite them using the same Nintendo user

I always went for the consoles, and never a Nintendo handheld before. If there's no Wii 2 coming out for now, I will definitely buy this DSi.I hope there's a VC shop channel, to catch up all those oldies I missed. I did borrow a GB with marioland 2 and warioland 3 from a friend and never had the chance to finish them.
Too bad it's not a phone too, so I could replace my Blackberry. :-P

I don't understand why everyone is worried. They did the same thing when they had the GameBoy Pocket moved up to the GameBoy Color.
There was still GameBoy games being made when the Color was released, but if you had a GameBoy , you couldn't play GameBoy Color games. But as the Color gained more of the market, GameBoy Color games took up the market, thus ending GameBoy games.
The same card is being played here. DS (GameBoy) [the start] > DS Lite (GameBoy Pocket) [the systems slimmed down, but still same play] > DSi (GameBoy Color) [a new line of game that add more to the system]

I am asking for one for Christmas 2009. The problem is my parents might make me trade in my Lite at Gamestop.
I may get one from Japan, seeing as I am going there with my family during my sister's winter break (this trip has been planned for months). Affording it won't be a problem, as long as they don't bump up the price at the last minute.
I'm definately gonna get the DSi, maybe now I can listen to Head Like A Hole by Nine Inch Nails while playing Diamond. and I can play Rock is Dead by Marilyn Manson while playing Resident Evil DS
I didn't know it had a music player! or that it's 140$! SD slot? Voice chatting? (possible) video chatting? I am so getting this! Have a harder-to-scratch bottom screen and I'm sold!
They said in an article by Nintendo USA that when we get it it will cost just about the same as a NDS does now and the they will try to release it in US 2nd quarter of 09 but may have to delay it til later in the year.
The regular DS will see a price drop to about $99 in the near future.
What I have heard so far:
U.S. models would sell for around $130.
3.25-inch screen, compared with the DS's 3-inch screen
Yea right now you can buy a DS from anywhere and play games from anywhere. A lot of people were buying ones from other countries just for the different colors and no harm was done. Now with the RL on it people can no longer do that. Part of Nintendos reason for this is so they can get a more accurate reading of sales for each country. To bad though there are a lot of really good import games that the US will never get.

I'm probably not going to get this system. I just have a feeling that they are going to make you download your old games in order to play them...

I might get it... if my parents let me swap. "Well into 2009"? I could live with that. I'll have enough. Maybe.

Can only play games from your region, aka if you live in the US, you can only play games that come to North America
