New SSBB Content is to be downloadable May 13 via the "Wii Want More" Channel.
No this is not an April Fools joke and I'm sure that many of you have heard already but I decided to post it anyway.
YOu will be able to download a free SSBB pack that includes 4 new characters and 2 new stages. This will only be free for the first month that it is available. Nintendo has announced that there will be content on 26 other Wii titles and that this channel will serve a role in the WiiWare games also. Again this is no April Fools joke so... YAY!!!!

"In a recent interview, Sakurai has confirmed that no extra character will be obtainable via WiiConnect24 or other means. He even states that he doesn't think it's even possible on the Wii itself. Sakurai also mentions that no other third party companies approached him at all for characters.
IGN: We have to ask because there are so many rumors about this. Are there any hidden characters to come? Can you unlock more hidden fighters by way of WiiConnect24 or will you offer new downloadable content -- new fighters, for example. -- using the service?
Masahiro Sakurai: No. There are no characters that can be unlocked via connecting to WiiConnect24 or interacting in that fashion. And I may be mistaken here, but the Wii doesn't have a hard drive -- it's a disc-based system -- so I don't think we'll be doing that, I don't think it's going to happen.
hahahahahahahah XD i cant belive some people fell for this
clearly "MasterZiggy" did not read the hole article and it clearly states that this is just another april fools prank:P

In a recent Nintendo press release detailing the Wii%u2019s new %u201CWii L C%u201D channel, which will allow gamers to download extra content for many of the console%u2019s titles, a certain best selling blockbuster hit was mentioned in a way that will make even the grumpiest Wii players excited. I am of course talking about Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and its DLC which could end up making one of the best game%u2019s on Nintendo%u2019s latest console even better. Starting on April 5th, 6 new characters and 4 new stages will be available for download via the %u201CWii L C%u201D channel for only $10. Don%u2019t believe me? Check out the full press release after the jump-aroo.
NINTENDO Wii L C Channel ANNOUNCED
Download new content for games which are allready out!
TUCKERTON, Maryland, March 31, 2008
Everyone loves new stuff, but sometimes that stuff comes at a price. This is why we in the gaming industry make money. In fact, this is basically why the people who sell things in any industry make money. Anyway, enough about us, lets talk about the Wii L C channel. It rules!
What%u2019s better than a new Wii channel which you will use all the time to get new stuff? THe fact that you can get new stuffs for the coolest game on the entire planet. That%u2019s right everybody, Super Smash Bros Brawl is 1337, and its about to get 1337er. Exponentially 1337er. That%u2019s because on April 5th, you will be able to download one billion new characters and ten gajillion new stages for the title. Sounds awsome right? Right. Cool. So go buy that. That will be ten dollars please.
That%u2019s not the only game that will be getting the Wii L C treatment however, as many other games will be upgraded via the channel. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will get a new sword made of molten sulfur and the ability to defeat every boss by distracting them with cute kittens. Cool! Super Mario Galaxy will get Wii L C content as well, with a new downloadable planet which will be home to a new set of Mon Calamari characters.
So this is an April Fools joke? If it is than I hace to admit that MiiPlaza got me! Along that Legend of Zeld Trailer I should be more careful of what I read on April Fools!
i dunno i still have a lil hope in it. that message above (which tony considers the actual letter) was a little off. on the wii newsletter it said something like may 12th and only 4 characters and 2 stages instead of their supposed april 6th and 6 characters and four stages.
if this is true i don't think that the characters will be NEW characters but instead the lost melee chracters (excluding young link cuz he is basically toon link)
but you never know...
(personaly i hope this "wii want more DLC is real)
hey i was just surfing the web for any info on the DLC thing. i found something that debunks this theory and clearly says that it is not real.
here's the link: http://www.n4g.com/wii/News-129895.aspx
guess i was wrong, but it would've been cool too, but hey maybe some time later in the future this may be possible.
Chris, just accept it. This is a big fat lie. Nintendo said nothing about it, therefore it's not official.
Also, where would you store all this DLC? Simply put, there's no space and Nintendo are far too behind in terms of online features to ever implement something like this on the Wii.
first of all this info came out on April fools day.
Second, Sakurai didn't confirm any attempts at DLC because Wii's lack of Memory. He even stated he didn't think it was possible.
Third, it maybe possible to do, but looking at the time constraints. There was a rumor of Ninty creating an HDD (HD Drive) for Wii. Even if that were true it wouldn't be out soon enough making all that DLC unaccessible since Wii doesn't have a large amount of memory.

Masahiro Sakurai addressed This Issue awhile back in an IGN Interview saying "NO DLC for Brawl."
Sorry, but Sakurai, Creator of the Game, is more believable than You.
I forgot to add DLC to the end. DLC obviously stands for "Downloadable Content."
I see well I'm sure you'll find out soon enough.
And I guess he changed his mind.

i also saw the LoZ "movie" trailer, although it looked pretty real it also looked kinda bad, but i thought it was funny. and it is fake too. if you haven't seen the trailer you should check it out yourself:
